breast problems

other than lumps anybody know what other signs of breast problems?
thanks, didn’t know about the moving lumps
Realize also, you can have problems and no symptoms. I had a lumpectomy in August and begin radiation treatment on Monday, for DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ)…so small I couldn’t have felt it during a self exam, but my yearly mammogram in June picked it up.
If you are 40 or have breast cancer in your family, tell your doctor and request a mammogram. My baseline was done when I was 37 or 38…I’m 44 now.

Breast Men -
$4.99 This docudrama recaps the history of silicone breast implants, beginning in 1962 when idealistic Houston medical resident Kevin Saunders (David Schwimmer) gets an idea after seeing how women pad their bras. After he shares his notion with cosmetic pro Dr. William Larson (Chris Cooper), the two create a prosthetic breast from Dow-Corning's silicone gel. Approaching women on the street fails to bring volunteers, but a classified newspaper ad does the trick. As breast sizes increase, so do the doctors' bank accounts. However, physical problems emerge, followed by lawsuits, and the high life soon turns sour and grim. Filmed in LA, and Texas (Galveston, Houston), this TV movie premiered December 13, 1997 on HBO. ~ Bhob Stewart, All Movie Guide |

Adjuvant Therapy of Breast Cancer
$404 The results of randomized trials evaluating the use of early or adjuvant systemic treatment for patients with resectable breast cancer provide an eloquent rebuttal to those who would argue that little progress has been made in the treatment of cancer. Few subjects have been so systematically studied in the history of medicine, and it seems fair to conclude that the value of adjuvant systemic therapy in prolonging the lives of women with breast cancer is more firmly supported by empirical evidence than even the more conventional or primary treatments using various combinations of surgery and radiotherapy. This book authoritatively reviews the rationale for, results of, special problems, and future directions of adjuvant therapy of breast cancer. It also includes an appendix from the Early Breast Cancer Trialists' Collaborative Group (Oxford, U.K.) which lists all of the adjuvant trials which have been closed, as well as the active studies now ongoing. |

Screening for Breast Cancer
$51.98 Screening for common diseases is seen by some as a vital intervention in major health problems and by others as a costly exercise in public relations. Breast cancer incidence is increasing and screening programs have been established in many countries. However, questions remain as to their efficacy, given the financial costs to health services, and the emotional and in some cases physical costs to well women who are screened. Screening for Breast Cancer begins by setting out the principles of effective screening programs, and reviews variations in the incidence of breast cancer in different countries and age-groups to shed light on the major risk factors. This leads to a study of the normal and abnormal cell biology on which breast cancer diagnosis depends. The most common method of screening for early breast cancer worldwide is mammography using X-ray images. Screening for Breast Cancer is supported by a fully interactive DVD, developed in collaboration with a hospital breast screening service. The book and an interactive multimedia sequence explain the physical basis of X-rays, how and why they are used in mammography, and why the breast has to be compressed between two plates for a mammogram. The mammography procedure, how the mammography machine works and how mammograms are interpreted, are explained in videos, concluding with a visit to the follow-up clinic and pathology laboratory where breast biopsy samples are processed and evaluated microscopically. Some other imaging methods that may become more important in the future are also introduced and the concepts of sensitivity and specificity are explained. The book closes by exploring the benefits, risks and costs of screening for breast cancer, so that the reader can weigh up the pros and cons, and see how the general principles might apply to other screening programmes. The Online Resource Center features: For lecturers who are registered adopters of the book: F |

The Breast
$8 Like some latter-day Gregor Samsa, Professor David Kepesh wakes one morning to find that he has been transformed. But where Kafka's protagonist turned into a giant beetle, the narrator of Roth's fantasy has become a 155-pound female breast. What follows is a funny yet touching exploration of sex and subjectivity. |

Screening for Breast Cancer (Introducing Health Sciences)
$57.48 Screening for common diseases is seen by some as a vital intervention in major health problems and by others as a costly exercise in public relations. Breast cancer incidence is increasing and screening programmes have been established in many countries. However, questions remain as to their efficacy, given the financial costs to health services, and the emotional and in some cases physical costs to well women who are screened. Screening for Breast Cancer begins by setting out the principles of effective screening programmes, and reviews variations in the incidence of breast cancer in different countries and age-groups to shed light on the major risk factors. The Online Resource Centre features: For lecturers who are registered adopters of the book: Figures from the book in electronic - format, available to download For students: - Access to ROUTES, a searchable internet database of online resources compiled by academic staff and subject-specialist librarians. |
